1. New Enrolments

Parents/legal guardians are required to pay a once-off, non-refundable enrolment fee of R3,000 per child enrolling at Mina Lopato Nursery School for the first time in 2026.

The enrolment fee is payable to confirm the child's acceptance and placement at the School and covers the administration costs associated with enrolling a child.

In certain circumstances, and at the sole discretion of the School, the enrolment fee may be reduced or waived.

2. School Fees and 12-Month Enrolment

The School operates on a 12-month basis.

School fees are payable for all months from the date of enrolment, irrespective of:

  • Public or religious holidays;

  • School holidays or term breaks;

  • Personal holidays taken by the child;

  • Sick days or other absences; or

  • The number of days the child actually attends during a particular month.

All children enrolled at the School are regarded as full-time enrolments for fee purposes, including children who attend three days per week.

The School does not provide make-up days or fee credits for personal holidays, sick days or other days on which a child does not attend.

3. Attendance Options

Only children enrolled in the Younger Playschool class (12 months to 2 years) are eligible for the three-day-per-week attendance option.

All other classes operate on a five-day-per-week basis.

4. Sibling Discounts

Parents who pay School Fees on a monthly basis may qualify for the following sibling discounts:

  • 1st child: Full fees

  • 2nd child: 5% discount

  • 3rd child: 7.5% discount

5. Payment Terms

School Fees are billed and payable in advance.

Additional charges, including aftercare, cake raffles, challah purchases and other applicable school-related charges, are billed on the 15th of the month in which those charges are incurred.

Parents/legal guardians remain responsible for ensuring that all amounts due are paid by the applicable due date.

6. WalletDoc Payments

Mina Lopato Nursery School uses WalletDoc for payment processing only.

Parents/legal guardians agree to use the payment method selected or made available by the School and to ensure that sufficient funds are available for payments when due.

The use of WalletDoc does not change or reduce the parent's/legal guardian's obligation to pay School Fees and other amounts due to the School.

7. Withdrawal and Notice Period

A minimum of one full term (three months)' written notice of the intention to remove a child from the School is required.

If the required three-month written notice is not provided, the parent/legal guardian will remain responsible for one full term's fees.

Notice of withdrawal must be provided to the School in writing.

8. Sabbaticals and Absence

Parents/legal guardians remain responsible for School Fees whether or not the child attends the School during the period for which the child is enrolled.

Fees remain payable during personal holidays, sick leave, family leave, religious holidays, public holidays, school holidays, term breaks and other periods of absence.

No fee reduction, refund or make-up days will ordinarily be provided as a result of such absence.

9. Subsidies

Qualifying parents/legal guardians may apply to the School Board for consideration of a possible subsidy.

Subsidies are not guaranteed and applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Parents/legal guardians who have previously received a subsidy must re-apply each year.

10. Outstanding Fees

The School takes a firm approach to the payment of School Fees.

Any outstanding fees from a previous school year must be settled, or an arrangement acceptable to the School must be made, before a child is admitted or allowed to continue attending, subject to applicable law and the School's discretion.

If a parent/legal guardian defaults on School Fees for two consecutive months, the School may require the child to be removed from class and the child may not attend School until the outstanding fees have been brought up to date or an arrangement acceptable to the School has been made.

Parents/legal guardians remain fully liable for all outstanding fees.

The School may require a parent/legal guardian to sign an Acknowledgment of Debt in respect of outstanding fees.

Failure or refusal to sign an Acknowledgment of Debt does not prevent the School from pursuing recovery of outstanding fees through appropriate legal channels.

11. Collection Costs

Where School Fees remain unpaid and the School incurs reasonable costs in recovering outstanding amounts, such costs may, to the extent permitted by applicable law, be charged to the parent/legal guardian's account.

12. Parent/Guardian Agreement

By enrolling a child at Mina Lopato Nursery School you are accepting these Terms & Conditions and the parent/legal guardian acknowledges and agrees that:

  1. I am responsible for the payment of School Fees in full and/or in accordance with arrangements made with the School.

  2. The amount of School Fees and other applicable charges invoiced by the School will be provided to me.

  3. I agree to meet my payment obligations using the payment method indicated or agreed with the School.

  4. I understand that, to the extent permitted by law, reasonable costs associated with the collection of outstanding School Fees may be added to the School Fee account.

  5. I understand that personal information and details relating to outstanding School Fees may, where lawful and necessary, be disclosed to appropriate third parties for legitimate debt collection or recovery purposes.

  6. I undertake to contact the School promptly should my circumstances change in a manner that may affect this agreement, including changes relating to sibling enrolment, payment arrangements, banking details or payment methods.

  7. I acknowledge that, where lawful and necessary for legitimate school administration, fee administration or debt recovery purposes, relevant information may be shared with other schools within the Diocese in which siblings are enrolled.

13. Safety, Welfare and School Activities

While all reasonable care will be taken to ensure the safety and welfare of the child and his/her property, parents/legal guardians acknowledge that attendance at the School, participation in School activities and transportation arranged by or in connection with the School may involve ordinary risks.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any liability or legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

14. Medical and Emergency Consent

The Principal, or in her absence or unavailability the next most senior teacher ("responsible person"), is authorised, where reasonably necessary, to act in loco parentis (in the place of a parent) for the child while the child is involved in School activities.

The parent/legal guardian authorises the responsible person, where reasonably necessary and in the interests of the child:

  • To take reasonable steps to ensure the welfare and safety of the child and other children;

  • To arrange appropriate medical and/or dental treatment where necessary; and

  • In an emergency involving injury, accident or illness, to obtain appropriate emergency medical assistance and consent to necessary emergency treatment where permitted by law and where reasonably considered to be in the child's best interest.

The School will endeavour to contact the parent/legal guardian as soon as reasonably practicable in circumstances of such nature.

15. Personal Property

Parents/legal guardians are responsible for ensuring that valuable or unnecessary personal property is not brought to School.

The School will take reasonable care of children's property but cannot warrant against any loss or damage in circumstances outside of its reasonable control.

16. Personal Information

The School may process personal information belonging to parents/legal guardians and children for purposes including enrolment, administration, communication, education, safety, fee administration, payment processing and lawful debt recovery.

The School will handle personal information in accordance with applicable South African privacy and data-protection laws as well as the School’s Privacy Policy.

17. Amendments

The School may update its fee structures, policies, procedures and administrative requirements from time to time.

Material changes will be communicated to parents/legal guardians through an appropriate School communication channel.
