Principal’s Welcome

To all current and prospective Mina Lopato families, or to those simply wanting to find out more about our school: my team and I extend a very warm welcome.

Mina Lopato is something special; a hidden gem in the heart of Greenside where love, family and connection is fostered.

At Mina Lopato, we are all about the child. We believe in meeting each child where they are at and building on their strengths and abilities to provide a solid and holistic foundation.

Our inclusive philosophy not only allows for a diverse student body, but actively seeks to enrich our programme with values and life lessons that each individual brings to the table, both formally and incidentally.

Our diverse community fosters a strong sense of respect, compassion, curiosity and self-esteem as our children grow up learning about themselves and others. At Mina Lopato, we don't just embrace diversity, we celebrate it.

Our curriculum is aimed at children of all backgrounds and religious affiliations, as we focus on what each child needs at their particular age and stage of development.

We follow a play- based approach and use the world around us, South African events and Jewish themes to extend our children beyond the classroom.

We believe in hands - on learning and encourage experiences in nature, environmental awareness and responsibility. We encourage our children and staff to use all their skills, meet challenges with confidence and to never stop learning and growing.

Our caring, experienced and passionate team of teachers aim to nurture and promote the emotional wellbeing of our children through connection seeking. Our guiding value of 'relationships first', allows for children to feel safe, loved and cared for, after which learning naturally follows.

Perhaps the most important and unique feature of Mina Lopato is our sense of belonging and togetherness.

Mina Lopato is more than just a school. We are a family. On entering our school, you will be warmly embraced by our strong sense of community and friendship.

As a school, we believe in the importance of connection and unity and the vital role this plays in building our children up for success.

I invite you to take a peek into the magical and wondrous world of early childhood at Mina Lopato. A place where love for learning is tangible foundations for life are built.

Governing Board

Mina Lopato Nursery School is a non-profit Section 21 Company, an autonomous body governed by a Board of Directors.

This Board, comprised of parents from the school as well as the principal, Marissa Koffler, manages the strategic and financial direction for the school. This five-person team of passionate, skilled and dedicated parents is a superb reflection of the school’s inspirational capacity.

As a past parent of Mina Lopato, it has been a pleasure to serve on the board and give back a little to this wonderful gem of a school that has given so much to my child. My daughter has thrived and grown as a person in this nurturing, caring environment.
