1. Enrolment Fee

A once-off enrolment fee of R3,000 per child is payable for each child enrolling at Mina Lopato Nursery School for the first time in 2026.

The enrolment fee is non-refundable once paid.

The fee confirms the child's acceptance and placement at the School and covers the administration costs associated with enrolment.

In certain circumstances, the School may, at its sole discretion, reduce or waive the enrolment fee.

2. School Fees

School Fees are charged on a 12-month basis from the date of enrolment.

Fees remain payable regardless of whether a child attends School during a particular month, including during:

School holidays and term breaks;
Public or religious holidays;
Personal holidays;
Sick leave; or
Other periods of absence.

The School does not ordinarily provide refunds, credits or make-up days because of a child's absence.

3. Withdrawal from the School

Parents/legal guardians are required to provide one full term (three months)' written notice when withdrawing a child from the School.

If the required notice is not provided, the parent/legal guardian remains responsible for one full term's fees.

Fees paid or payable during the applicable notice period will not ordinarily be refunded merely because the child has stopped attending.

4. Termly and Annual Payments

Where School Fees have been paid in advance on a termly or annual basis, any refund arising from withdrawal will be subject to the applicable three-month notice requirement and the School's fee agreement.

The School will determine any amount refundable after taking into account the notice period, amounts already due, services provided and other amounts lawfully payable.

5. Monthly Payments

Monthly School Fees are payable in advance and are not ordinarily refundable where the child is absent during the relevant month.

The three-month written notice requirement remains applicable to monthly-paying families.

6. Additional Charges

Additional charges, including aftercare, cake raffles, challah purchases and other applicable charges incurred on behalf of the child, remain payable even where the child subsequently leaves the School.

7. Overpayments and Duplicate Payments

Where a parent/legal guardian makes a duplicate payment or pays more than the amount due, the School may apply the excess amount to the child's account or, where appropriate, refund the excess amount.

Parents/legal guardians should notify the School as soon as possible of any suspected duplicate or incorrect payment.

8. WalletDoc Payments

WalletDoc is used by Mina Lopato Nursery School for payment processing only.

Where a refund is approved in respect of a payment made through WalletDoc, the School may process the refund using an appropriate payment method and subject to any applicable payment-processing requirements.

9. Refund Requests

Refund requests must be submitted in writing to: info@minalopato.co.za

The request should include:

Parent/legal guardian's full name;
Child's full name;
Amount paid;
Date of payment;
Reason for the refund request; and
Proof of payment, where applicable.

10. No Refund for Personal Absence

No refund or fee reduction will ordinarily be provided because of personal holidays, illness, family leave, religious observances, public holidays, school holidays, term breaks or other periods during which the child does not attend School.

11. Subsidies

Subsidies are not refunds and are granted at the discretion of the School Board.

Qualifying parents/legal guardians may apply to the School Board for consideration of a possible subsidy.

Subsidies are not guaranteed and applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Parents/legal guardians who have previously received a subsidy must re-apply each year as previous receipt of a subsidy does not guarantee a subsidy for a subsequent year.

12. Outstanding Fees

Any refund or credit due to a parent/legal guardian may be offset against outstanding School Fees or other amounts lawfully due to the School.

Parents/legal guardians remain responsible for all outstanding fees, including amounts arising from the applicable notice period.

13. Changes to the Refund Policy

The School reserves the right to amend this Refund Policy from time to time.

Any material changes will be communicated to parents/legal guardians through an appropriate School communication channel.
