Paying Positivity forward

It has been a busy time here at Mina, busy too in our pre-election country, with our post-trauma neighbouring states and in the world in general. Not all this busyness has been good. Individuals we know and care about have been injured and are suffering. Fear, uncertainty and disillusionment seem to hang heavy in the air. It has been too easy to focus on our anger and sadness that hit and run drivers drive away, that not everyone has access to basic services such as electricity, hot water and health care. That petrol prices and travel increase dramatically and regularly. That parents are struggling to find work, and that many who are, are doing so in other countries. It's life in South Africa and it brings home to me how relevant and crucial our theme of Positivity is.

Mina parents have made this all easier. They have made it easier to believe in the goodness of people, in the generosity of spirit and resources that have pushed through the heaviness in the air and let love, hope and light in. The reactions of parents to the school's Fun Day in hard economic times, to the outpouring of assistance in so many ways for Fiskani and to the humanity and kindness that permeates the Mina air, help pay forward the positivity that is so much a part of the small happy place we call Mina Lopato Nursery School.

My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.
