Love, Kindness, and Respect
At Mina, we really believe that it is so important to implement values and life lessons into our daily routines as well as our curriculum.
As much as our children need to develop their academic skills, how much more so do they need to learn about appreciating those around them and demonstrating kindness and respect. As such, we make a point of interspersing our general themes with themes that encompass values that we hope to impart.
This past week saw us reflecting on those who are dear to us and contemplating why we love and value them. We thought about different ways of expressing our love and appreciation to our special people and brought this to life by making cards and cookies.
Through discussions and active involvement, the children could internalize the importance of appreciating others as well as the beauty of giving; be it cookies, a picture, or an expression of love.
Today we hosted our first official "Mini Assembly" which took place just before Shabbat Ring. Every Friday we’ll gather as a school to sing songs and take part in learning about Shabbat. This will also give my team and I an opportunity to present the school's value focus for the past week, such as gratitude, good manners, and respect. We will include a reminder of school rules that keep us safe and a "look forward" to the themes of the upcoming week.
We are very excited about this new initiative and the prospect of creating a stronger sense of community, family and belonging at Mina Lopato.
Wishing you a fantastic weekend.
